Oh hey! Its me, Whitt!

Hey! Thanks for visiting my page! I am happy you are here!

My name is Whittney Kesterson - I am the owner of Whittney Jean Photography.

I started photography at a young age. My friends and I would get disposable cameras (does that date me?) and take pictures of one another. I grew up in rural southwest Wyoming so the struggle was real when it came to developing the film, because we had to drive 40 minutes to Walmart to get the pictures developed and back then it would take a few days. Nevertheless, I have several scrapbooks filled with pictures of me and my friends. In high school we took “selfies” on actual digital cameras, and we thought we were pretty cool too. Don’t worry, we still developed those images too - but now technology was moving into the era of Myspace and Facebook so I am not a total dinosaur! ;)

I have always taken pictures. Its interesting to me now, that I am turning it into a career to reflect on how much photography has always had a presence in my life. I went along with my sister and her husband when they had their engagements taken and I had a disposable camera and took some right along side of the photographer. I took engagement, bridal and wedding pictures for my other sister. It was my first wedding! Let’s just say, I have a lifetime of making up to both of my sisters for the pictures they have allowed me to take in my beginning years. But hey, they saw the potential and I love that they have always supported me. And to Brenden, I am not sorry, because I am good now ;) haha! Anyways, I started taking pictures of family and then friends and friends of friends, etc. and BOOM here I am years later meeting clients as strangers but leaving as friends. Its my passion.

I am an EXTROVERT! Don’t let this intimidate you. But I LOVE being around people, but more so I love creating friendships and making people feel good about themselves. I think that this is a characteristic that really drives my passion in my work. I also stand firm in my belief that pictures DO NOT HAVE TO BE A DRRRRAAAG and awful!. I try to make it a fun experience a memorable experience! I know that (especially family pictures) pictures can be daunting and more than likely one person doesn’t want to participate. But nothing brings a bigger smile to my face then when a client tells me that their significant other “actually had a fun time” or that their kids had fun or that they have never felt more beautiful or comfortable or all the things! GUYS! I LOVE what I do, but more importantly I love making you happy.

Photography is amazing to me - I literally freeze moments that you and future generations can remember forever. Isn’t that WILD?! I think it is.

This past year, I have FALLEN in LOVE with weddings. There is so much emotion on a wedding day. I get so caught up in every moment. Its beautiful and I love celebrating with my clients.

A little about me. I am a Wyoming gal (yes, I am VERY proud of this - despite the endless jokes from others haha) living in southern Utah. I love the desert and I love living in St. George. I am an outdoors girl. My optimal happy place is on Lake Powell with good friends and wake surfing or even just chilling on the lake. I have a boyfriend Brad. We have been dating for 7 years now! CRAZY! He makes me laugh so hard every day, and I truly mean that. I am not making it up, he is the funniest guy I know. He is also very loving, caring, giving and loyal. I could go on about Brad. He is a big part of who I am. I love him. I love street tacos, white monsters, and birthday cake suckers. I am not a fan of heights or birds. I can whistle 6 different ways and I have never left the country.

I have 2 older sisters and a younger brother. I have 6 nieces and nephews and I am obsessed with each and every one of them. I don’t have my own kids, but I do have kids - thanks to a client who brought this to my attention. It completely changed my world when she said that. Hey, Aunts matter too! <3 My parents still live in Wyoming and I love going back home to visit them. I am thankful for my dad and mom and all of their support. And I am grateful for Brad’s mom and dad and brothers. They have been a big support and part of who I am too and I love them. Thank you for taking me in! And to all my friends. HOLY I would defintiely not be where I am without all of your continuous love and support not only to my business but to me as well!!!

Anyways! I clearly have a lot to say, which shouldn’t surprise those of you who know me or have worked with me. I am really happy you are here. And if you are still reading this, thank you for supporting me and caring. I can’t explain the love that I have for those that support me, its so crazy the way that life works out. I am so blessed. I hope you all have an awesome day and one more time…..

I am happy you are here! <3

XOXO
